Florida Carjacking Investigation: Third Suspect in Custody as Sheriff Highlights Drug and Money Link

Seminole County, Florida Sheriff Dennis Lemma offered a chilling update on the harrowing carjacking incident involving Katherine Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvivas in Winter Springs, as reported by FOX 35 Orlando. Amidst the ongoing investigation, a third person of interest has been apprehended in Puerto Rico, shedding new light on the Florida carjacking that tragically claimed Aguasvivas' life.

Kevin Ocasio Justiniano, aged 28, was nabbed by U.S. Marshals on unrelated charges of drug trafficking and possession of weapons, as disclosed by Sheriff Dennis Lemma on Tuesday. Allegedly the driver of the green Acura depicted in the now-infamous video capturing the armed carjacking at a bustling Winter Springs intersection on April 11, Justiniano's case, alongside that of another person of interest, 28-year-old Jordanish Torres-Garcia, is slated to be referred to the U.S. Attorney's Office. Both are anticipated to face charges of carjacking resulting in a fatality. Investigators pinpoint Torres-Garcia as the individual who approached Aguasvivas' white 2017 Dodge Durango wielding a firearm.

In a stark declaration, Lemma underscored, "This case is about drugs and money," emphasizing the removal of what he deems the most perilous individuals tied to the case from the streets.

The unfolding narrative takes a pivotal turn as the third person of interest, Giovany Joel Crespo Hernandez, aged 27, surrendered himself at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility in Seminole County late Monday night, as per FOX 35 Orlando. Hernandez, wanted on unrelated drug charges, was reportedly the last individual to engage in a Facetime conversation with Aguasvivas prior to her demise, with investigators suggesting she was en route to his Casselberry residence to "deliver money and other items.

In the wake of this tragedy, Katherine Aguasvivas' father has voiced the profound impact on their family, lamenting the loss. As the investigation delves deeper, the community grapples with the complexities of justice, while the echoes of this fatal carjacking reverberate throughout Seminole County and beyond.

Hernandez's involvement in the carjacking and homicide has not resulted in charges against him. Presently, he remains behind bars on counts related to fentanyl trafficking and the possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, elucidated Sheriff Lemma during a press briefing on Tuesday.

A twist in the narrative emerges as Aguasvivas' brother and husband, once integral to the investigation, have withdrawn their cooperation with detectives, Lemma revealed.

The husband is not providing any assistance whatsoever," Lemma asserted. "And while the brother may believe he's aiding our inquiries, his statements are riddled with falsehoods.

In this intricate web of events, the quest for justice encounters obstacles as key players withhold vital information, complicating efforts to unravel the truth behind the deadly Florida carjacking.

As the investigation into the harrowing Florida carjacking unfolds, with its ties to drugs and violence becoming increasingly apparent, the community is left grappling with unanswered questions and lingering tensions. Despite law enforcement's tireless efforts, obstacles arise as crucial individuals, including Aguasvivas' own family members, retreat from cooperation, casting shadows of doubt over the path to justice. In the wake of tragedy, the resolve to seek closure and accountability only grows stronger, underscoring the imperative of perseverance in the face of adversity. As Seminole County continues to reckon with the aftermath of this senseless act, the pursuit of truth remains unwavering, echoing a resolute commitment to honor the memory of Katherine Aguasvivas and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
